Bratislava, Slovakia. Eastern Europe.

Piestany, Slovakia. Eastern Europe.

The day trip to Piestany was the highlight of the whole trip. We arrived in a small town an hour and a half outside of Bratislava. We then met up with a friend of my brother who grew up there!  She and her husband gave us an awesome tour of the area. No tour company could match our experience. We went her parent's house where her Mom cooked us a traditional Slovak lunch. Wow! Lunch was great! Fish, Fried cheese, and Potatoes. The Red Wine was really good! I loved the house. Amazing architecture and style. Hand built by her Dad!

After lunch we took a tour of the Spa Resort that the town was known for during the Soviet times. This place was pretty neat. Mud and Hot Springs. After that we drove into the countryside to a small town with a model wood carving of the major landmarks in Slovakia. That was neat. We got to see the inner workings of the model! Nice church too!

Then, we got to see the Traditional Slovak Wood Houses in another town. Wow, talk about having a tough life. From there we ventured farther out into the country, looking for cheese. We drove up a rough, long, dirt driveway that ended in a farmyard. There, the fresh cheese was. It was good! I never had cheese that fresh before!

From there, we made our way back to Piestany where we had dinner in their Penthouse Flat. Really nice! The view of the surrounding area was incredible.

Then, all good things come to an end and we had to leave. That was a funny story too!

We had about 7 minutes until the train departed. It was a five minute drive to the train station. No problem, right? Wrong! We could not leave without saying goodbye to her Mom and Dad! They had invited us in and made us lunch. So, we jumped into the car and raced across town, no time to spare. We arrive and say our goodbyes, now, her Mom was in a panic! We were going to miss the train! Off we rush to the train station. The train was about fifteen minutes late. It all worked out perfectly!

The next day we toured Bratislava some more. Went inside the Castle. Then, we made our way back to Prague via train. What do you do when a Czech Police officer is asking you questions on a train? Neither of us spoke each others language. That was funny.
